The CME and BCE of Northwestern University

Under the direction of Alan Pierson and Ben Bolter, the Contemporary Music Ensemble (CME) is a one-on-a-part ensemble of approximately 20 players. CME trains students to take on challenging repertoire while thriving in a large chamber ensemble setting. The ensemble also provides models for entrepreneurial careers outside of the mainstream orchestra world. Conducted by Donald Nally, Bienen Contemporary/Early Vocal Ensemble (BCE) is a 24-voice ensemble that sings a highly specialized, virtuosic repertoire for advanced choral singers, concentrating on music of the 21st century and drawing relationships to its polyphonic roots in early music, primarily that of the Renaissance.
