Justin Peters
Onstage, Justin Peters is a drummer, percussionist, composer, producer, and songwriter based in Chicago. With deep knowledge in a vast array of musical styles, he has become recognized as a remarkably reliable artist and collaborator.
In 2015 Justin received his Bachelor of Music in Percussion Performance at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Since, he has collaborated with artists such as Eighth Blackbird, Third Coast Percussion, and Nico Muhly. He has appeared at numerous mainstay venues across Chicago, including Lincoln Hall, the Metro, Orchestra Hall, and the Pitchfork Festival. He performs and records regularly with many groups in Chicago and abroad, including Villekulla, Jenni Stark, Carlile, Dark Canyon, and Caught Steelin’. He is a cofounder of Kinesonics, which presents yoga classes with live improvised musical accompaniment.
Justin Peters is a facilitator of music making. Offstage, he is devoted to helping artists reach audiences while ensuring the highest level of production quality. He began performing at an early age, but quickly developed a passion for showcasing other artists as well. Justin cut his teeth curating bills at local rock clubs and eventually opened and co-managed a venue in his hometown. This drive to facilitate live performance has led him to work with Eighth Blackbird, Ear Taxi Festival, Chicago Sinfonietta, and the Lyric Opera of Chicago.

Production Manager, Ear Taxi Festival - Coordinated the tech and production needs of over 600 artists across 6 days of performances at 7 venues throughout the city of Chicago.
Operations Director, Eighth Blackbird - Managed production, artistic and executive operations, travel, facilities, and more for the four time Grammy Award-winning ensemble for six years.
Tour Manager, Lyric Opera of Chicago’s Opera in the Neighborhoods - Managed a 5-week tour, visiting 15 venues, and presenting approximately 30 performances, serving 17,000 throughout the Chicagoland area.
Justin currently serves as the Director of Operations for Chicago Sinfonietta and works as a freelance production coordinator and consultant, ensuring clients’ live productions operate at the highest professional level while supporting the artistic vision.
